Tonight, we will hold our final Girl Scout meeting of the school year. Traditionally, we have a Bridging and Award Ceremony to end the year, but we are doing it differently this year.
We have 8 girls who could earn their Bronze Award. Each girl has between 7.5 and 13.5 hours left to complete the project. We will be talking to the girls about what they can do to finish their project and give them a due date this summer to turn in all evidence. It will be each girl's responsibility to finish. We have gotten them this far, and now it is their chance to take responsibility and finish. We will have a special celebration in late August or early September, when we will hold a Bronze Award, Bridging, Awards, and Investiture Ceremony.
We will also give the girls the opportunity tonight to plan next year. They will work in GS levels to decide on badges they want to earn and what field trips they want to take. It is our hope that they will have a great plan by night's end. This is the next step in building leadership skills and giving our girls ownership of their troop.

And It Is Done . . .
As of 12:45 today, I am finished with the 2012-2013 school year. Everything had been moved to my new office space, and my officemate and I set-up our new office best we could. We will finish in August when we return. Other items were placed in a new area in a storage area that we created.
Teachers were still working to clean and move. I know many were not very happy, but with everyone moving, rooms will be cleaned, items will be sorted through, and the new year will start fresher.
Happy Summer, everyone!

And That's a Wrap!
Today was the last day of the 2012-2013 school year. We ended with no food fights during lunch or breakfast and no fights during or after school. I say that is a pretty successful last day or school (as well as successful whole last week).
While we celebrated the last day and beginning of summer break, we said, "Good-bye," to students and began our "Good-byes" to co-workers.
Our testing coordinator is moving to a new district position. She is so funny, honest, and supportive. She was always in "the know," and I could trust her. I sure will miss her, and I wish her the best of luck in her new position. She will be fabulous.
My officemate and At-Risk Coordinator is heading to a new high school position. She has been wonderful with our students, creative and funny starring in the videos, a fantastic friend, a huge support, and someone I could truly trust. I will miss her faith, honesty, humor, and greatness daily.
We have a few teachers leaving for various other positions too.
My other officemate and I are changing offices. There are a lot of changes taking place next year, and teachers are beginning to prepare for those changes now that students have been dismissed. Tomorrow will be a busy day of packing and moving and then the halls will go quiet until August.
To all the students out there, have a wonderful summer!
At the end of last year, my first year at this school and in this position, I had built relationships with some students, but it really didn't feel the same as the year ended. The year just ended. Students moved on. This year, I have built numerous relationships with students, and I was a little sad to see them leave today. I look forward to seeing how they do in high school.

Spring and Big Decisions
Spring meetings and re-registration are coming to an end. I can't believe the end of May is already here.
How have you celebrated the end of another Girl Scout year?
What was your end-of-the-year ceremony like?
What plans do you have for the summer?
Are you planning to return next year? Plans already in the works?
We just held our last Service Unit Team and Leader meetings. I made a difficult decision, but I have stepped down from my Service Unit Team. There are various reasons, but overall, I will miss the work I have been doing. I have enjoyed working with leaders as they begin/continue their journeys.
